I'll say it right out of the box. The only thing that really bothered me about this book was the fact that Alexia kept referring to Blake as a soldier. Blake was a Navy SEAL. Anyone in the Navy is referred to as a sailor. Soldiers are in the Army; marines are in the Marine Corps; airmen are in the Air Force. Call it a foible but it drove me crazy. That being said, I actually enjoyed the book. It was interesting to see how long it would take Alexia to discover that Blake was exactly what she didn't want in a man...military...like her father. You manage to develop a healthy dislike for the admiral. He's lifetime Navy and expects a certain behavior from his children however, neither Alexia or her brother Michael, who happens to be gay, seem to be able to fit into the admirals mold. You seem to think that way about Alexia's mother until she eventually shows a kinder side toward the end of the book.
It's definitely worth the read but you just have to get past the soldier reference.

While on two weeks of enforced leave after a mission ends badly, Navy SEAL, Lieutenant Blake Landon meets sexy physicist Alexia Pierce. A tall redhead whose dark eyes suggest that the rules—especially those in bed—are made to be broken. And for the first time in weeks, he feels alive, wanting nothing more than to lose himself in her—over and over again.
Alexia’s only stipulation when it comes to relationships is … no military men! After a steamy romp on the beach, and two incredible, sex-filled, erotically intense days between the sheets, Alexia discovers that Blake is a SEAL under her admiral father’s command. Having made her feelings clear about being involved with a military man, she can only assume that not sharing that he's a SEAL—a job that requires a level of dedication steeped in blood—was a deliberate choice on his part. So she walks away, effectively slamming the door shut between them.
But eight months later, when Alexia is kidnapped by a terrorist dead set on manipulating her research on subliminally enhanced emotional response, Blake is assigned the mission to rescue her. And he's determined to get her back ... safe, sound, secure, and with any luck, in his bed.
I just love a man in uniform! And I was surprised how much I enjoyed this book. It certainly had more depth than others in this genre. A SEAL’s Seduction is a fun, sexy, steamy read with a satisfying HEA, perfect for the beach or a lazy afternoon. Uniformly Hot! The Few. The Proud. The Sexy as Hell!
One star is generous. There were moments of decent and interesting writing that peaked through the drivel, but this was one of the worst books I've ever read, and my tolerance is pretty high for bad writing and characterization when the book is well plotted. The plot here didn't help much. It had promise, but never fulfilled it. The lack of realism (or research?) was jarring. Since when does the US military operate on US soil (Alaska was still part of the US, last time I checked) without so much as a hint of concern about breaking the law? The soldier (misspelled, too, at least twice) rather than sailor reference to a Navy officer bugged me to no end as it did other reviewers, and the sex, while pretty hot at times, was ruined by the constant mention of "girly parts". "Girly parts"? The scene descriptions are practically X-rated (and relatively well done) and the heroine refers to her genitalia as "girly parts"? Right up there with vajajay. I'll take Suzanne Brochmann and Laura Griffin any day over this nonsense.
If you are going to write about a branch of the military, especially a special forces unit, you should work to GET IT RIGHT! Navy Seals are SAILORS. They are not soldiers, SAILORS are never referred to as soldiers.. Army Rangers, Green Berets and Delta Force are soldiers. The Marsoc are the Marines special forces and they are Marines. and the Air Force Pararescue forces and are called Airmen. Please get it right.
Where were the editors? This is a Harlequin Book and no one caught this glaring error? You lost me immediately. . Author, please do your research.
