"This book had a lot going for it. There was a lot I really enjoyed... the double athlete angle, their interesting personalities, and the side story of Lexi's two best friends."

"This book kept me attached to it all day. It's what I like to call a 'mommy can't function as a mommy' book"

Training, playing ball and studying is Lexi’s life and it never seems to bother her until her friend, Parker Hill, points out to her that sweat pants on a Friday night while watching sappy romance movies isn’t really living up her last year in college. Lexi didn’t see the need to party since she didn’t know what the hell she was doing with her life after college but her friends wouldn’t take no for an answer. Little did she know going to the first party of the season was going to flip her world upside down.

Jake Taylor, starting quarterback for Cal U and campus heart throb spent his entire college career, partying, getting drunk and winning football games but it is all finally catching up to him. He is ready to throw in the towel of his partying days when he decides to have one more last fling. That is when he runs into the one person that could turn his life inside out.

Lexi wants nothing to do with Jake and his partying ways but after one bet gone wrong , she finds herself on a date with the annoyingly obnoxious, egotistical heart throb. Even though she wants nothing to do with him, she finds herself gravitating toward him and giving into his charm. They fall hard and fast for each other as they find love, comfort and a home. They live in their own littler world where nothing matters besides the love they share for each other.

But love isn’t enough for Lexi when she is trying to find her way after college. She slowly sinks into Jake’s shadow and finds herself clawing out of the Jake sized hole she buried herself in so she can find who she is, who she wants to be and what her future holds for her.

Fair Catch is a true love story that goes through the trials and tribulations of Jake and Lexi’s insecurities, jealousies, short comings and strong personalities. Love is one hell of a strong bond but sometimes, it’s not strong enough. Follow Jake and Lexi as they try to hold on to the love they share while they try to find themselves and find out what life is after graduation.

Good love story.

I can usually read a book and no matter what the grammatical errors may be, I can overlook them. However, this book was pretty bad.

Lexi was a very insecure character because of the abuse she watched her mother encounter from her father. Yet, she seemed very strong willed and obstinate. Loved her for that. But when she had her insecure moments and fought with Jake, she seemed very immature and outright atrocious. She would belittle him with insults and name calling. And two seconds later their fight would be over.

As for Jake, I loved him. Every girl should be so lucky to have someone love them unconditionally. He had his immature moments also but they were very rare. He just loved Lexi. And wanted nothing more then to be everything for her.

In the book I did cringe a lot when Lexi couldn't decide what she wanted to do with her life after college. She wanted to follow Jake around as he became the next huge NFL star. When I wanted nothing more then for her to make something of herself too. (This review coming from a mother obviously. We all want our little girls to grow up and be able to take care of themselves and not depend on anyone. ) And not once in the reading did I every feel that Jake was controlling her. He wanted to take care of her yes, but he never did anything to make me think that he was telling her to give up her dreams. She didn't know what her dreams were.

I wasn't thrilled with the end. That's just it, it took about 97% of the book for a HEA. But then it was done. The epilogue continued with another set of characters. I wanted to know where they were 6 mos, a year, whatever...I wanted to know about Jake and Lexi.

I also would have liked a continuation with Margo and Parker. And maybe that will be another book. I'm just not sure I'll even continue the series.

Fair Catch Love and Sports Series Book 1 edition by Meghan Quinn Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This was a very enjoyable read and I loved Jake and Lexi and all their crazy friends.

Lexi is a senior in college and after being persuaded by her best friend Parker to live a little this year, and she ends up at the football party. She never expected Jake to approach her, and her reaction to him was something Jake has never experienced by a girl before.

Lexi is a spit fire, and Jake is drawn to her. He is trying to change his ways from the past 3 years as well, and getting Lexi to see this is definitely difficult for him. When he makes a bet with her to go on a date, he knew what he was doing, and Lexi didn't think it through before agreeing. What happens next is a crazy and bumpy relationship between these two dedicated and passionate people.

Lexi does get wrapped up in Jake a little too much and seems to forget herself along the way. Though her friends and everyone try to tell her, she doesn't listen until it's abundantly clear to her what has been going on.

Lexi and Jake seem to fight more than anyone I've seen, and their fights can get ugly, but they always end in an amazing way. The chemistry and passion between these two is off the charts, I just wish they would have been a lot more open with one another. Jake seems to be very open on his feelings for Lexi, but she holds back a lot.

I loved the dynamic of this relationship, as well as the dynamic of Margo, Mason, and Parker playing huge parts in Lexi and Jake's story. I was rooting for these two throughout the whole book, and everyone else seemed to be on board with Lexi and Jake being together, except Lexi. This is the part that annoyed me with the book. She was hot and cold with him, and I really felt bad for Jake.

My heart broke for Jake during this book, he had changed so much in this story and for Lexi to treat him the way she did towards the end broke me, but I'm glad things worked out for these two. I understand they both had to find their way and who they were, but when they are together they are perfect, not sure why Lexi couldn't figure this out a lot sooner.

This is a great read and I loved how we got inside Lexi and Jake's heads to see what they were doing and how they were seeing things. I love a bad boy turned good guy, and a drama filled relationship. Lexi and Jake's story is amazing and I can't wait to read Mason's story next! If you're looking for a hot sports romance, definitely pick up Fair Catch today!
Whoa! Unhealthy relationship. While I understand the issues with her family I cannot believe the unhealthy relationship between Lexi and Jake. This is sending the wrong message to our girls. Yelling and pushing each other around when fighting does NOT make for a healthy relationship.

I'm not a fan of weak female characters. Ahtough she started out a strong woman she shriveled into a weak unrespectful b***h, Poor Jake didn't have anyone, he just wanted to be loved and love her unconditionally but Lexi wouldn't hear it. The fact that Lexi didn't know what to do with her life after graduation was not a reason to make them both miserable. I haven't finished the book yet but it is really disheartening that Ms. Quinn chose to portray such an unhealthy relationship as opposed to working things out together as Jake suggested many times throughout the book.

If you want to read a really good similar story, including the college football hero, but a different take on a relationship I highly recommend Sweet Home and Sweet Rome by Tillie Cole - great books!! The books are both stand alone books but one is from the h POV and the other is the H POV. Read Sweet Home first

Update, just finished the book - the ending was rushed and BLAH...
