We never intended to raise peacocks, as I was quite happy with raising chickens and having fresh eggs on the table. For us the opportunity to raise peafowl was dropped in our laps. I share our experiences in incubation, cage requirements, transporting, and care of peacocks. Additional links are included for making informed choices on peacock care along entertaining articles and videos.

Your adventures into the peacock world can start from a small egg or from obtaining peachicks or full grown fowl. This is an important choice to make when committing to raising peacocks.

“So you Want to Raise Peacocks? Step-by-Step Guide to Raising Peacocks” offers answers on questions about the raising of this fowl. Will the peacock make a good pet and stick around? I think so! The majority of peacock owners who spend time with the chicks, find that the bird becomes attached and loyally follows them around the homestead grounds. The beauty and the entertaining value of the birds is reason enough to choose this bird to add to your homestead. Plus peacock feathers are in high demand so you can make a good profit too!

My book will help anyone looking to have peacocks on their own farm or ranch. This is a great hands-on guide for anyone considering the fowl for their area.

I had hoped that this book would be a good addition to my peafowl and pheasant book collection. However after reading only a few pages I have found that not only is the advice poor and potentially dangerous for the safety of the birds, but is also based almost exclusively off of opinion rather than any sort of biological or husbandry backed facts.

NEVER have a wading pool or body of water in the pen of a non waterfowl bird it's a breeding ground for disease and chicks can drown in it
Radios only work to repel predators for a short time until the predators get used to voices at which point it becomes ineffective.
DE has not been proven to be effective in the long run any more than just normal sand is.
Peas can jump up to 6 feet even with clipped wings but clipping wings inhibits them escaping from predators should they need to
NEVER plant iris for peas it's toxic.
Cayenne pepper and garlic do not have enough potency to properly worm a peafowl. You need to do it 2x a year with livestock wormer.
Apple cider vinegar does not prevent disease in peafowl
There is no mention of the 16 different colors and 6 patterns that peafowl appear in which is a huge let down as the regular india blue coloration is just scraping the surface.

All in all not a book worth having.

So You Want To Raise Peacocks? StepbyStep Guide to Raising Peacocks eBook Darla Hanger Reviews

I enjoyed learning how to raise peacocks. I learned that they can be noisy.
I'm sure the information holds true for some people but it didn't for me.
It's not a bad book. It just covers the basics instead of going into details. It's a good starters book.
This is exactly the type info we were seeking about first time raising/having peafowl. I'm thankful for the tips, pros and cons of keeping peacocks around and what to watch for to keep them healthy and safe. Also fun to read! The photos of peacocks are always beautiful which adds to the book - and excitement of getting some of these wonderful (yet noisy!) birds. Even if someone has more knowledge than I do, I bet the resources listed would help anyone. The different foods and plants were extremely helpful.
Good info not good is a required review, how being held hostage here over reading lol this is stealing my time
rip off. I don't know where it went but I never got it. I do know where I money went.
Very informative and learned some new information!
