THE PASSOVER COOKBOOK YOU REALLY WANT
Why do we buy matzah at Passover/Pesach when it is so easy to make at home? Homemade Matzah is a journey through the archaeological records of bread baking in ancient Egypt, a primer on matzah-making rules, an exploration of matzah's history in America and great recipes you can try at home. Filled with gorgeous photos and easy to make basic recipes, you can have matzah at home without the crumbs!

I don't know about you, but I grew up eating giant, bland, crumbly crackers at Passover. Matzah isn't really ideal for any kind of human consumption, and it became one of the things I dreaded about the holiday. I disliked it so much so that it tinged a lot of the beautiful things about the holiday- the liberation story, the seder, the family. I actually don't think that needs to be a part of Pesach anymore.I thought the history part of the book was good information. Though it's obvious in retrospect, the matzah we know and love to hate wasn't always like that. Manischewitz hasn't made matzah since the Israelite era. The author of the book looks at how Miriam might have made matzah, and the history of American matzah-making.
For me, though, the best part of the book is the careful research into how matzah can be kosher for Passover and made at home. It's like a DIY, grassroots approach to reclaiming matzah! Okay, in reality, my culinary skills entail cereal, scrambled eggs, and sandwiches...so "reclaiming" may be a bit off for me. However, following the basic recipe already makes something more edible than typical matzah. It's good I have a head start. You will probably have better results!

Homemade Matzah Fresh Soft Chewy in 18 minutes edition by AJ Campbell Dan Traster Neil Goldstein Glick Cookbooks Food Wine eBooks Reviews
Most of the book did not download onto my android phone. Trying to get a refund.
I personally am not Jewish. But, I have a wonderful Jewish family that I married into. Because of this I wanted to make some home made Matzah. Someone told me about this book and I just had to have it. It is a wonderful, helpful, and a fun read. Great information on Matzah and of course how it is suppose to be made.
A fascinating read; well written, well researched, well illustrated.
Recommended for Jews and non-Jews for an informative and
fun look at Passover from A.J. Campbell's point of view.
I loved it..
Definitely worth reading. After I finished the book, I immediately wanted to start making it! The entirety of the book taught me about matzah and how to finally make my own!
I have been baking since I was five and not a single cookbook, not a Jewish cookbook, not a baking cookbook, not one of my 100+ cookbooks includes a Mariah recipe. Thanks, AJ!!!
Look forward to trying this.
I LOVE this book! I bought it before Passover, but got sick and so have not had time, yet, to actually try the recipes. However, I already make my own matzah and can tell these recipes look GOOD! And these are not your typical dry, crispy matzah. She has recipes for soft and chewy matzah! Can't wait to be able to try them out.
BUT, this is so much MORE than a cookbook. A.J. has also researched the history of matzah and shares how it has gone through some changes over time. She explains the different types and how they are used.
And she has photos! LOTS of them. Big, beautiful photos! The whole book is quite the visual experience.
It is very enjoyable to read and I look forward to experimenting with the recipes all through the year. No need to wait for Pesach! These look yummy for all the time.
I highly recommend the book!
