With mysterious intent new characters are cleverly interwoven with such skill I could visualize their actual movements and smell the aromas of rum, burning sugar and stench of poverty.
Edward's return to England with his trusty friend and cabin boy Simon is a difficult one. With the appearance of a vagabond with accompanying footpad he has to prove his identity to old and trusted servants in order to reclaim his estate and rectify his youthful ways.
Deceptions abound and the narrative is such that I was just totally immersed in the thrills of discovery of pirate gold, kidnappings, ransoms ballgowns and beautiful horses.
Once again the amazing attention to historical details that are intricately threaded throughout the story make it a wonderful read. We meet again that elegant couple the Duke and Duchess of Ormond ( Silence Of Scandal (Unrivalled Regency Book 1) ) who with the help of Geoffrey and Lady Charlotte ( A Gallant Gamble (Unrivalled Regency Book 3) ) will aid the new Earl of Lavenham in his quest for love and happiness.
All of Ms William's wonderfully crafted novels are a delight to read as individual stories and then again all together one after the other as a whole series. I think it's a an amazing quality for an author to have - the ability to write tales that have a certain something outstanding that makes me want to read and read again, what an absolute pleasure and one that I can totally recommend...
